In a surprising announcement, there is a new update for both the European and Global versions of the OnePlus 7 Pro. The update looks to be focused on optimizing specific features but also includes Android’s August security patches. You’ll find download links for the OxygenOS 9.5.11 full ROM as well as the incremental OTA update (for both regions) right here.
Yesterday, OnePlus announced a brand new OTA update for both the European and Global variants of the OnePlus 7 Pro. This update will bring your smartphone up to OxygenOS 9.5.11 and is currently rolling out to devices around the world. Unlike some previous updates, we aren’t seeing reports of it including major glitches that would result in another halt.
Instead, this new update surprised everyone as it’s the first to receive Android’s security patches for August 2019.
This is shocking for OnePlus 7 owners for a number of reasons. The biggest, though, is because the smartphone has been one month behind when it comes to security updates since launch. This is understandable (in some ways) since it was a big launch for the company. It marked the first time they would bring two devices to the market at the same time.
In any case, being behind in security patches wasn’t making the company look good. Hopefully, we see this update put the OnePlus 7 Pro back on track so that it can receive regular security updates in a timely manner.

Along with getting up to date with the latest Android security patches, the folks over at OnePlus have also included some optimizations in this new update as well. This includes, but is not limited to, improving the Adaptive Brightness algorithm, adjusting the sensitivity of the display while playing a mobile game, and prevent accidental touches while you’re in the middle of a phone call.
It seems a number of people had reported the Notification Bar was being touched some times when the user was in a phone call. This update also includes a newer version of Google Mobile Services (GMS). Lastly, we get the typically vague general bug fixes and improvements that don’t mention anything specific but does give people hope for random bugs being squashed.
OnePlus 7 Pro OxygenOS 9.5.11 Changelog
- Optimized Adaptive Brightness
- Optimized the sensitiveness of the screen touch while gaming
- Optimized the accidental touches with notification bar in calling
- Updated GMS to 2019.06
- Updated Android security patch to 2019.08
- General bug fixes and improvements
As with all of these updates, you can install them in a number of different ways. If you are not rooted and are on the previous version of OxygenOS (9.5.10 in this case), then you can just download the (smaller) OTA update and install it through the local update system. You just have to make sure you put the file in the root directory of your internal storage.
Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Gear Icon (top right) -> Local Upgrade
If you’re rooted, then the process is a bit more complicated. I would like to get a video put up about this soon. However, I’m currently in the process of getting my device replaced. Look forward to seeing that in a future tutorial as I will also be embedding those videos here too.
